Type Talk at Work Revised How the 16 Personality Types Determine Your Success on the Job Otto Kroeger Janet M Thuesen Hile Rutledge 9780440509288 Books Reviews

  • While at Intel this book was a required read for Leadership skills workshops. I found out about myself and the description was amazingly accurate. I used this information to gauge others and grew knowing the personality types that got on my nerves. This was an early warning detection system that showed me that what I considered out of place, actually had a place to share in this gumbo called humanity. It showed me how to motivate and be-freind what was earlier in my life nothing but an irritating person.

I became so good at the practice of the theory behind Myers Brigg that I could ask a few questions and have that personality identified. It is a powerful tool that can edify as well as destroy relationships. If you plan on being a leader you have to have followers, and this book reveals psychological secrets to advance a career.

I like the book so much I have purchased it as a gift to family and friends.
  • This book is eye-opening and a great tool for better understanding yourself and others. I've found it so helpful in modifying my relationships with coworkers and my bosses. I'm giving this to everyone I know for Christmas )
  • This is an old book from the 80s, so MBTI talk has become more sophisticated, as can be expected. It was a good overview of the types in different situations though, so I think it's worth reviewing as a reference.
  • This is a must read for anyone who wishes to understand themselves and what makes others tick. I first read this book about 25 years ago and it enlightened me on personality differences of NORMAL people. This is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator of 16 personality types> for example have the same personality type as Oscar Madison of the Odd Couple. LOL
  • I really didn't expect to like this, it was assigned reading on a course for my masters degree. Very enlightening though, I've suggested to my team that they should read it as well. We work in social services in the non-profit sector, this has great insights and tools to working with almost anyone.
  • This used book was exactly as advertised and rec'd in the time frame promised. LOVE the book; am studying the Enneagram process and this book based on personality traits was a great addition, adding valuable insight.
  • My wife and I read through a few of the types discussed-- our own types-- and found them to be very insightful. The accuracy of the types was pretty spot on... my wife even stopped in the middle of reading part of her description to tell me what else it should include, only to read on and find that it did include it nearly verbatim. Warnings abound about not letting yourself think too tightly in your type, or putting others into a type box. It's a very good read and I would recommend.
  • I bought this for my coworker for her birthday (she’s really into Myers Briggs) and she LOVES IT! I find her reading it on breaks and talking about how applicable it is to our team at work. The condition was good and I have no complaints.
